چکیده

Premise The Ocotea complex contains the greatest diversity of Lauraceae in Neotropics. However, traditional taxonomy group has relied on only three main floral characters, and previous molecular analyses have used a few markers provided limited support for relationships among major clades. This lack useful data hindered development comprehensive classification, as well studies character evolution. Methods We RAD-seq to infer phylogenetic 149 species complex, generating reference-based assembly using Persea americana genome. results provide basis classification that reflects our current knowledge evolution breeding system, stamen number, number anther locules. Results recovered well-supported tree demonstrates paraphyly Licaria, Aniba, clarifies Umbellularia, Phyllostemonodaphne, Old World species. To begin new facilitate precise communication, we also definitions seven Our ancestral reconstructions show multiple origins characters routinely been systematics, suggesting these be with caution future. Conclusions study advances understanding taxonomically difficult data. names will unambiguous communication progress.

Phylogenetic relationships and character evolution in Heuchera (Saxifragaceae) on the basis of multiple nuclear loci.

UNLABELLED • PREMISE OF THE STUDY The use of multiple genetic regions from the nuclear genome, including low-copy markers, has long been recognized as essential to robust phylogenetic construction, addressing gene tree incongruence, and allowing increased resolution to test current taxonomy and resolve basic hypotheses about character evolution, biogeography, and other organismal traits of in...

Phylogenetic systematics and character evolution in the angiosperm family Haloragaceae.

The poorly known Haloragaceae R. Br. (Saxifragales) are highly diverse in habit (small trees to submerged aquatics) and labile in floral merosity (2-4), both uncommon among the core eudicots. This family has a cosmopolitan distribution, but taxonomic diversity is concentrated in Australia. An explicit phylogenetic approach has not previously been utilized to examine relationships or character e...

Phylogenetic Relationships and Evolution of the Androecia in Ruteae (Rutaceae)

Ruta, which belongs to tribe Ruteae, is the type genus of the subfamily Rutoideae and the family Rutaceae. Molecular systematic studies have shown that the genera in Ruteae are closer related to Aurantioideae than to most other genera of Rutoideae, some of the genera traditionally placed in Ruteae have been shown to be nested within the Aurantioideae clade, but the diagnostic characters for det...

Molecular Phylogenetic Evaluation of Classification and Scenarios of Character Evolution in Calcareous Sponges (Porifera, Class Calcarea)

Calcareous sponges (Phylum Porifera, Class Calcarea) are known to be taxonomically difficult. Previous molecular studies have revealed many discrepancies between classically recognized taxa and the observed relationships at the order, family and genus levels; these inconsistencies question underlying hypotheses regarding the evolution of certain morphological characters. Therefore, we extended ...
